In the world of indie comics and collectible figures, the campaign for the The Edge “Blain” 1/18-scale action figure has come to a halt, at least for now. Created by Marvin Wynn, the project sought to bring the character Blain (from the Edge universe) into figure form, paired with a one-shot comic backup. The Kickstarter campaign launched under the title “The Edge Blain 1/18th scale Action Figure and One Shot Comic.”
What the campaign offered
According to promotional materials, the figure was to be a modern 1/18-scale (approximately “4-inch” style) action figure with 25 points of articulation, double-ball neck, shoulders, elbows, ankles and more. Supporters could also receive the one-shot comic, variant covers, and add-on prints such as a crossover print featuring Blain and another character from the indie toy scene.
Why it didn’t fund
The Kickstarter was looking to get $15,000 to proceed with production. Unfortunately, The Edge Blain action figure crowdfunding only received 94 backers with a total of $11,160 raised. This was $3,840 short of the required funding.
What’s next: Relaunch in 2026
Despite the setback, Marvin reached out to us to confirm his plans to try again in 2026. While no exact date was given, I expect that the relaunch will likely incorporate lessons learned from this first attempt: better marketing outreach, clearer visuals/prototypes, perhaps revised pricing or reward tiers, and leveraging fanbase interest. For collectors following indie comic-toy lines, this gives a second chance to back an interesting project.
This project does look promising. Other characters from the comic planned for action figure form include Revenant, Interim, and Mystic. I certainly hope that this isn’t the last we here from Marvin Wynn and his awesome action figure and comic book line. Stay tuned for more updates about the The Edge Blain action figure crowdfunding as they become available.
