Riot Press has officially pulled back the curtain on its latest venture, the AMNX O-ring Action Figures. Utilizing their flagship property, American Ninja X, Riot Press is looking to capture the hearts of collectors who value both nostalgic aesthetics and modern independent storytelling.
The Return of the 3.75-inch O-Ring Standard
For decades, the 3.75-inch (or 1:18) scale was the undisputed king of the toy aisle. From the heights of the 1980s action figure boom to the specialized collector markets of today, this scale represents a specific kind of “pocket money” magic. Riot Press is tapping directly into that vein.
Specifically the reveal confirms that these AMNX Action Figures will embrace the “Retro-inspired o-ring style”. They will still maintain what the company calls “Modern Riot Press attitude.” The o-ring may be old-school but, the sculpts, paint applications, and character designs will reflect the gritty, high-octane energy found in the American Ninja X comics.
The American Ninja X universe is defined by its kinetic action and martial arts prowess. It only makes sense that the toy line would mirror that. Collectors can likely expect a range of accessories, ranging from tactical gear to traditional shinobi weaponry.
Many fans of this scale enjoy “world-building,” mixing and matching figures from various lines to create massive dioramas. The AMNX Action Figures are designed to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the legendary toy lines of the past, offering a new generation of heroes to populate those shelves.
I got a look at these figures this past weekend at Toylanta. They look absolutely fantastic. These AMNX O-ring action figures have that retro G.I. Joe style and scale and fit well within that line. The company had them on display with knock-off V.A.M.P.s that had similar paint schemes as the figures.
You can get a nice look at them from our Instagram post from last weekend, below.
