The workshop is humming, resin is curing around the clock, and the pre-production pipeline for the Tide-Realm Corsairs action figure line is moving directly into high gear. Following the successful funding of their debut wave, Corsair Creations has provided an inside look at the physical test prints making their way across the prep tables. For collectors tracking the transition from digital sculpts to physical plastic, these raw prints mark a crucial step forward as the figures move toward the paint-master phase.

Hands-On with the Latest Test Prints

Bringing a high-fantasy pirate line to life requires constant iteration, especially when translating intricate digital designs, sculpted in partnership with Four Horsemen Studios, into durable 3D prototypes. The Corsair Creations team is currently cleaning, trimming, and prepping a fresh batch of physical test prints.

The latest workshop preview spotlights early partial 3D prints for three major factions:

  • Tideborne Builders: Test pieces highlighting heavy armor layering and sea-inspired textures.
  • Perished Builders: Raw prints showcasing skeletal detailing, distressed armor plates, and sharp silhouettes.
  • Pirate Crew Builders: Modular components designed to help fans construct customizable crew members for their displays.
  • Weapons and Gear Packs: Cutlasses, firearms, armor parts, and nautical gear undergoing fit-and-tolerance checks.

These early resin pieces allow the development team to test joint tolerances, verify seam lines, and ensure that fine surface sculpt details translate cleanly from the digital model to physical resin.

Moving Toward the Paint-Master Stage

In action figure manufacturing, reaching the paint-master stage is one of the most critical landmarks in the entire pipeline. Before mass production tooling can begin, an artisan hand-paints physical prototypes to establish the exact paint maps, weathering washes, and color standards that the factory will mirror.

Prepping raw 3D prints for this phase requires meticulous work. Support structures are removed, seam lines are micro-sanded, and individual parts are fitted to guarantee seamless movement once painted.

Once these prototypes are cleaned and fully assembled, they will head directly to the paint studio. The paint masters serve three vital purposes:

  1. Setting Color Standards: They establish precise shade matches, metallic finishes, and wash intensities.
  2. Highlighting Sculpt Detail: A painted finish brings out subtle textures in cloth, leather, and bone that can be overlooked on raw grey resin.
  3. Establishing Production Blueprints: They give the manufacturing facility an exact visual guide for factory paint masks and spray templates.

What Comes Next for Tide-Realm Corsairs

With post-Kickstarter pre-production moving smoothly, fans can expect fully assembled and hand-painted prototype reveals as the paint-master stage wraps up.

Corsair Creations continues to clean and fit additional gear pack components to ensure every figure in Wave One arrives production-ready. More updates will follow as these figures complete paint testing and prepare for final tooling stages.
