JNL Toys has officially launched a crowdfunding campaign for The Icon Collection: Toshiro Mifune Action Figure, bringing the legendary star of Japanese cinema to life in a highly detailed 1/12 scale collectible format for the very first time.
The Kickstarter campaign, which seeks $85,000 in funding, runs through September 5, 2026. Designed as the flagship release in JNL Toys’ new “Icon Collection,” the figure pays tribute to one of the most revered actor-samurai figures in international film history.
Honoring a Cinema Legend in 1/12 Scale
Toshiro Mifune defined the archetype of the wandering ronin and honorable warrior through his historic collaborations with auteur director Akira Kurosawa in cinema classics such as Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Rashomon, and Throne of Blood. Despite his massive worldwide influence on pop culture, including serving as a core inspiration for George Lucas when creating Star Wars, officially licensed action figures representing Mifune have remained exceedingly rare in collector spaces.
The new Toshiro Mifune action figure aims to rectify that omission. Crafted in standard 1/12 scale (approximately six inches tall), the figure features extensive articulation, tailored fabric clothing, and interchangeable accessories designed to reproduce his memorable onscreen stances and intense facial expressions.

According to JNL Toys, securing the official licensing rights from the Mifune Estate was a multi-year effort to ensure historical accuracy and sculpt fidelity. The collectible figure incorporates:

- Period-Accurate Soft Goods: Multi-layered textile garments reflecting classic feudal Japanese attire.

The Kickstarter campaign kicked off with an overall goal of $85,000 to cover steel mold production, estate licensing royalties, and worldwide shipping logistics. Pledges start with early-bird reward tiers around $87 to $90 for a complete boxed figure set, with higher tiers offering exclusive accessory packs and display bases.
If funded, JNL Toys plans to expand “The Icon Collection” with additional historic figures from classic cinema and pop-culture history, establishing a dedicated line tailored for action figure collectors and classic film fans around the globe.
